How To Add a Newsletter Sign Up Box to Your Facebook Fan Page

The following looks a bit complicated but it’s quite easy to do and worth the effort because it gives your Facebook page a point of difference.

How to do this on your Facebook fan page:

1. Login to Facebook

2. Click the link at the foot of this article to go to an application called Static FBML.

3. Click Add to My Page

4. You’ll see your page(s) in the pop up window, click Add to My Page for the page you want to add it to.

5. Go to your page and click Edit my Page in LH column.

6. In the applications list you will now see as below. Click Edit.

7. Give it a title – this is what will appear in your business page links tab.

8. Paste in your HTML code. You need some basic HTML knowledge to do this in your usual web editing software. You’ll also need the newsletter sign up code from your email service provider (Eg. Mailchimp, Constant Contact). This is the same sign up code you’ve (probably) used on your website.

9. Click Save Changes.

10. Go back to your main page, click Edit Setting again and scroll to FBML.

11. Now click on Application Settings and you’ll see a box like this….

Next to “Tab: Available” click add.

If “Box” shows “added” click Remove. That’s because we want it as a tab not a box.

12. Go back to your page and hey presto you’ll see your newly created tab! And of course ensure you test your sign up code.

13. Nb. If you have unwanted tabs at the top, for example Photos or Videos can tidy up your navigation by removing them. Go into Edit Page, scroll to the relevant application and then in Application Settings click Remove for Box and Tab. This does not remove the application it just removes it from the tabs.
